President of Shoe Company, Jens
Jensen, Dies, Aged 75

A leader in Racine's business
and industrial circles, Jens Jensen,
75, president of the Holland-Ra-
cine Shoe company, died Friday
night at ' his home in Holland,
Mich.
Mr. Jensen came to America from
Denmark in 1890, and lived
in Ludington, Mich., before he
came to x Racine in 1892.
He began his career as a gro-
ery delivery clerk, and three
ears later organized the
Jensen Grocery company.
Later he engaged in the
wholesale grocery business,
which he sold to James Hoffman
when Jens Jensen he took over
the interests of the Frank Luxem
Fruit company.
Mr. Jensen disposed of his
grocery interests to take charge
of the Racine Shoe company,
which later became the Holland-
Racine Shoe company. Recently
the Racine plant completed its
one millionth pair of shoes for the
army. Shoes for the navy are
being made by the thousands in
the Michigan factory.
The manufacturer also took an
interest in financial and church
activities, and was vice president
of the Farmers and Merchants
bank. He was one of the oldest
members of Bethania Lutheran
church on Silver street, and was
active in affairs of the Danish
Evangelical Lutheran church of
America.
Services Monday.
Surviving Mr. Jensen are his
wife, and one daughter, Mrs. Louis
Bethea, Washington, D. C. Friends
may call at the Hanson funeral
home Sunday afternoon and eve-
ning. Services will be held -Mon-
day at 2 p. m. in the Bethania
Lutheran church, followed by
burial ia Mound cemetery.

Jens blev gift med Johanne Nyboe Lauritsen [2702] [MRIN: 103], datter af Conrad Lundsgaard Nyboe Lauritsen, Tricotagefabrikant i Kristiania [602] og Kirstine Marie Sørensen [613], den 19. maj 1915. (Johanne Nyboe Lauritsen [2702] blev født den 5. oktober 1881 i Kristiania, dåb den 27. november 1881 i Trefoldighetskirke, Oslo ²²⁵⁹ og døde den 9. maj 1965 i Santa Barbara ²²⁵⁷.)
