Dies at 78
A prominent Albert Lea citizen, John A. Ferry, 445 Lakewiev Blvd, died this morning in Naeve hospital at the age of 78. He had been ill for about four minths and death was due to heart failure and com-
plications.

Born Aug. 29. 1878 in Hartland he was the son of John and Johanna Farry. He came to Albert Lea in 1890. His marriage to Thyra E. Houlihan took place Aug. 28. 1916 in Albert Lea.

He attended Albert Lea public schools, and Luther Academy.

Mr. Farry worked in the Albert Lea Post Office and was temporary postmaster in 1945. He also was employed at the First National Bank, and Jefferson Motor Co. and a Ford dealer for 18 years.

He was secretary of the Elks Club for 12 years before he retired in 1955.

Mr. Farry was a member of St. Theodore`s Catholic church, Past Grand Knight of the Knights of Colombus, 4th degree, Catholic Order of Foresters, Past Exalled Ruler of the Elks Club and a 51 year
member and United Commercial Travelers.

He was a Charter member of the Klwanis Club and the Albert Lea Country Club. Democrat County chairman for 20 years, a director and appralser of the Albert Lea Federal Savings and Loan, a past director of the Freeborn Nathional bank and bank receiver at Morris and New Richland banks.
Immediate survivors are wife Thyra, two sons, John P. (Rip) Farry, Albert Lea, and Stephen F. Farry, St. Paul, nine grandchildren and one sister, Miss Agnes Farry, Albert Lea.

He was preceded in death by a son, William P. Farry and three sisters, Nellie Farry, Mrs. William (Anne) Murphy and Mrs. Nick ( Mary Jane ) Rogers.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 9. a.m. in St. Theodores`s Catholic church with the Rev. Bernard Mangan officiating.
Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The rosary will be said at 8 p.m. Wednesday in the Bonnerup and Son chapel
