Ingeborg was born in Iowa, to Mads and Elfreda Sogaard, both immigrants from Denmark. She was one of four children, having two sisters, Clar and Tyra, and a brother, Olger. Her mother died from tuberculosis while Ingeborg was a child and her and her sisters were placed in an orphanage in Minnesota.
Ingeborg moved to White City, Saint Lucie County, with her husband and their sons. They built a home in which she lived until her death. (The conerstone states 1921 and still stands on Oleander.)

Ingeborg died from injuries as a victim of a car accident as she was crossing the road in front of her house. She was survived by her sons, Henrik and Adrian, two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
