Viggo Guy Dereng, 82, passed away on July 2, 2007 at his home. Mr. Dereng was the son of the late Adolph Weiholt and Laura Ann Kanneworff, was born in Newport News and raised in Hampton. He served in the United States Army Air Corps and had an apprenticeship at NACA. NACA later became NASA where Mr. Dereng retired after 36 years. He is survived by his wife, Betty Crocker Dereng, their daughters, Vickie Dereng of London, Ontario, Canada, and Joan Maree Dereng of Albuquerque, NM. and son and daughter-in-law, Leif Erik and Barbara Ann Dereng, Homosassa Springs, FL. Also surviving is granddaughter Amanda Nicole Dereng, North Wilkesboro, NC. A memorial service will be 1PM Saturday in the chapel at Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home with Mrs. Jeaux Simmons officiating.
