Co. Resident Dies.

Albert Sanden, 67 Life-time Steele Co. Resident, Dies Funeral services for Albert Sand-en were held at Lund church on Wednesday of last week with the Rev. Dr. S. A. Berge officiating. Pallbearers were Edwin Nelsen, Julius Knutson, Nels Pedersen, Reynold Johnson, Aadne Windingland and Walter Hobert. Many hearts in the community were saddened last week when they learned of the death of Albert Sanden, prominent Steele county farmer. Mr. Sanden passed away in a Fargo hospital after a short illness. His sudden death was a shock to all his neighbors and friends who had learned to know and respect him as a man of integrity and character. He will always be remembered, not only fo his friendly smile and genial handshake, but also for the great pride he had in his community's welfare. Born Dec. 6, 1883, Albert Sanden was the first child of early settlers to be born in Willow Lake township. He was also the first of eight children born to Ole and Elizabeth Sanden, pioneer homesteaders of this vicinity. At an( early age Albert decided to stay with the land his father had chosen and for fifty years he devoted his best efforts to the development and improvement of the land he loved. For forty-seven consecutive years Albert operated a threshing machine, rejoicing when there was a good harvest for himself and his neighbors, sympathizing when there was little to thresh and always looking forward to the next year. He took an active part in community life, serving for a number of years on the township board and the school board. He helped build the Lund Lutheran church and has contributed faithfully to its maintainence and activities. On June 21, 1910, Albert was married to Ellen Marie Nybo, also of Willow Lake township. They were married in the church he helped to found. To this union were born three children, Doris, Howard and Alton. Doris preceded her father1 in death by three years to the day. Albert retired from active farm-in when it became apparent that his health was impaired, and moved to Luverne where he lived until hel passed away on Sept. 2, 1950. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Ellen, of Luverne; two sons, Howard at home on the farm, and Alton of Fargo, three grandchildren, six sisters, Mrs. Clara Roseth and Mrs. Elsie Anderson of Valley City, Mrs. Will Nelson of Luverne, Mrs. Alfred Brunsvold of Joice, la., Mrs. Jack Kramer of Portland, Ore., Mrs. Ruth Anderson of Downy, Calif., and one brother, George, of Valley City.
