Alfred (Lincoln) Madsen attended Hannaford High School and spent four years in the service during WW II. He then settled in Winnebago, Nebraska. There he married Nadine Krause. They raised three sons and have two grandchildren. He was appointed U. S. Postmaster at Winnebago, and served in that office until his retirement in 1976. • Nekrolog, 1995. OBIT- South Sioux City, NE-Alfred Lincoln Madsen, 79, of South Sioux City, formerly of Winnebago, NE, died Tues., May 9, 1995, at a Sioux City hospital. Services were Fri., May 12 at Faith United Presbyterian Church in Walthill, NE, with the Rev. Lyle Franzen officiating. Burial was in the Omaha Valley Cemetery, near Homer, NE.
Mr. Madsen was born Feb. 12, 1916, in Riverton, WY., the son of Alfred and Alma (Nybae) Jorgensen. At an early age, he move with his mother to Hannaford, ND, where he recieved his education. He left North Dakota and spent time traveling thoughout various states and to Homer, NE. In 1941, he enlisted in the Army and was stationed in the Aleutian Islands as a radio signal interceptor operator. He was discharged Nov. 3, 1945. On Dec. 14, 1945, he married Nadine Krause. He was employed at Andersen farms. They moved to Winnebago, NE, and he worked for International Harvester Co. in Sioux City. He later ws employed by Buckly and Boyd in Winnebago. In 1958 he was appointed postmaster for Winnebago and retired in 1976. Mr Madsen served as an elder of the Presbyterian Church in Winnebago for many years and a member of the Winnebago Vounteer Fire department.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Allen of Fayetteville, NC, Kenny and his wife, Dorita, of Dakota City, and Mark and his wife, Mary of Minneapolis; four grandchildren, Bryan, Aliesha, Benjamin and Maria; a brother Leo and his wife Jeanette, and a sister Jewel and her husband Raymond Colville.
Pallbearers were Rodney, Lynn and David Krause, Carl Free, Curtis St. Cyr and William Hamann, Jr. (WIN-5/27/1995; Vol IX, Num XI)
